IT150 – Introduction to Scrum Development

Course Description

This course will introduce you to an agile approach to management known as Scrum. The goal is to give you the basic skills needed to work within or manage agile development teams.

Topics we will cover include:

  • Scrum – An agile tool for management.
  • Scrum Artifacts – Product Backlog, Sprint Backlog, Burn down Charts
  • Estimation using Scrum Poker
  • Scrum Players – Product Owner, Scrum Master, Team, Pigs and Chickens
  • Scrum Process – Daily Scrum, Sprint Review Meeting, etc.
  • XP, Crystal and Scrum – How it all fits together.

The Scrum Guide was handed out before class.  During the class, parts of it were distributed to different groups, who presented their portion to the rest of the class.
